The original firm, Robert L. Clark, CPA, began with general accounting services for business and individuals. This developed into strategic planning for individual wealth maintenance, minimization of tax liabilities for individuals and corporations, and consulting services. We believe in “old school” principles, but we also believe in keeping up with the needs of individuals and businesses in this rapidly changing world.
Our firm participates in the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) program required by the Oklahoma Accountancy Board.
Our entire operation is rooted in a tradition of meeting the highest standards of accounting practices. From this foundation, we offer the following specialized services: strategic tax planning for individuals and businesses, financial planning services for individuals, consulting services for business development and management, and accounting and tax services for the Internet environment and e-commerce.
Robert earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting in May 1981 from Oklahoma Baptist University. He passed the CPA exam in November 1983. He and his wife, Michelle, an MBA, have an accounting practice in Sulphur, Oklahoma, where Robert has served as a City Councilman since April 2014.
He began his career in public accounting working for Billups, Arnn & Co. in downtown Oklahoma City doing audits and tax returns for all kinds of individuals and businesses. He moved to Dallas in 1985, where he worked with clients in commercial real estate, franchise restaurants, commercial and residential construction, office, retail, fine dining and loan modifications, along with numerous other accounting and business clients.
Along with many different accounting roles and duties, Robert specializes in the difficult tax return. He helps individuals, partnerships and corporations find their way through the maze of challenges that can occur when working with the Internal Revenue Service. He talks to the IRS on the phone almost every day. He also helps those who are multiple years behind in filing tax returns and amends returns that have not been prepared properly. He is the consummate professional when it comes to compiling financials for many different businesses and organizations. His financial compilations are perfect for businesses that need historical data on their organizations in order to apply for bank financing. He also supervises numerous payrolls and files monthly, quarterly and annual tax returns for individuals and businesses that are required to file income, payroll, sales, alcohol, franchise and other tax returns.
Robert and Michelle are equipped to complete individual, partnership, corporate, non-profit and fiduciary tax returns in any state in the U.S. They help many small businesses, truck drivers, oil field workers, health care professionals, restaurants, municipalities, farmers and ranchers, and individuals stay on top of their tax obligations to Federal and State governments. Their client base includes individuals and businesses in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, California, North and South Dakota, Wyoming, New Mexico, Missouri and Kansas.
Robert grew up and attended high school in Sulphur, Oklahoma, where both his parents served as teachers in the local public school system. Since April 1, 2014, Robert has served on Sulphur City Council representing Ward 5, additionally Robert is on the Alumni Board of Oklahoma Baptist University, is a member of the Oklahoma Society of CPAs, and is a member of the Sulphur Chamber of Commerce.
Robert resides in Sulphur, Oklahoma with his wife, Michelle. Together they have four grown children and enjoy exercising, walking, swimming, bicycling and jogging in the Chickasaw National Recreation Area located in their town.
Michelle earned a master’s degree in business administration in May 2015 from Oklahoma City University and a bachelor’s degree in science and mass communications in December 1988 from Southern Illinois University. She has been working with Robert in private practice since 2007 and together they formally opened the accounting practice Robert L. Clark, CPA in September of 2009, in Sulphur, Oklahoma – Robert’s home town.
Throughout her career, Michelle has worked with many types of clients and businesses all over the United States. Her experience includes jobs with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority, Halliburton Investor Relations, York International HVAC, Winstead, Seachrest and Minnick Law Firm, and StaffMark International staffing firm.
Michelle specializes in completing individual tax returns and in all payroll and tax services. She completes numerous payrolls for clients every week. These duties include keeping track of vacation and sick pay, garnishments, levies, promotions and pay increases. She also works with Robert on all client financial compilations: cash journaling, making journal entries and creating financial reports essential to business operations. She files monthly, quarterly and annual tax returns for individual income taxes, payroll taxes, sales, alcohol and franchise taxes.
Robert and Michelle are equipped to complete individual, partnership and corporate tax returns in any state in the U.S. and help many small businesses, truck drivers, oil field workers, health care professionals, local restaurants, municipalities, farmers and ranchers, and individuals stay on top of their tax obligations to Federal and State governments. They work all over Murray, Pontotoc and Johnston Counties, as well as other cities in Oklahoma, Texas and other states.
With her master’s degree in business, Michelle is ready and able to advise large or small organizations on almost any aspect of that business, from personnel issues to operations to compensation and taxes. Prior to entering the accounting field with her husband, Michelle worked in public and investor relations for more than 20 years. She is Accredited in Public Relations – APR – with the Public Relations Society of America, with whom she has been a member since the early 1990s.
Robert and Michelle reside in Sulphur, where Robert grew up. Michelle grew up in the Moore-Norman area. They have four wonderful adult children. They are members of the Oklahoma Society of CPAs and of the Sulphur Chamber of Commerce.
